thanks for the review! very handy. I will try pluralsight out, i couldnt quite get into codecademy but this has more courses that I am actually interested in. Do you know if they will be doing a black friday deal?
Hi Lord (or Mr. Mingle? haha!)
No worries! I found Codecademy the same myself. I actually really liked it to begin with (this was in 2012ish – I think? awhile ago now! when Codecademy just came out) and it helped me loads in learning the basics of Python.
I think you will find Pluralsight much better these days though, Codecademy deserve credit for the original idea of making interactive programming lessons (or at least, they were sure the first people I know to make something like that) but Pluralsight is just a way better deal IMHO. It has way more diverse courses than Codecademy, not just programming but tech in general. And although you have to pay for the Premium plan to get the same interactive code editors as Codecademy, overall it’s actually cheaper than Codecademy, so you’re saving money either way.
Regarding black friday, I got in touch with them for you and it turns out they are indeed!
They’ve got a free weekend and a 40% off offer (which is personally the highest I’ve seen – usually it’s 30%)
Free weekend is today (Friday) and will last until Monday. Then until 3rd December the 40% off offer will be running. I really reccomend you take this chance to get the Premium plan for a year, if you can afford it. You can always get a refund if you decide you don’t want to use it.
Just head to the website and take advantage of it before it goes, you can also use these links to go directly to the pages – using these links means we get a commission for sending you their way, it helps us support the site and keep providing informatio for free to our readers 🙂 (Feel free to just go directly there though!)
